Going pro – United States vs Europe
A simple look at the NCAA-to-MLS route, the European academy route, and where Tenerife can help teams experience both.
United States 🇺🇸
- High school → NCAA soccer
- NCAA → MLS Draft
- MLS Draft → Pro contract + development
The U.S. route keeps academics and competition together. Foreign tours every four years give teams a rare chance to train abroad and play against a different style.
Europe 🇪🇸🇬🇧🇮🇹🇫🇷
- Youth academies → B teams
- B teams → First Division
- First Division → Global exposure
European academies push competitive minutes earlier and embed players in a deep football culture.
How TNA helps
Tenerife Next Academy gives U.S. programs a practical European-style week: strong facilities, steady weather, local opponents, and recovery time built into the schedule. The aim is not to copy Europe, but to let players feel another football environment and bring that perspective back to campus.
